To Volunteer means to freely undertake a task or enterprise. To offer oneself for a cause and the good of the community. To volunteer can also mean acting on behalf of something or someone else. It is usually done without pay and is geared towards creating a positive change in society or providing help to someone that needs it.
Volunteering requires one to forgo many things in order to be available. America’s 28th President Woodrow Wilson could not have put it any better, “There is no higher religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed”.
